Date of Stay: Oct 2013
We are mom dad little one and grandpa who stayed in this unit for 10 days in October, travelling to Maui for second time. This vrbo is a surprisingly great find. We arrived late but found the condo easily. Self check-in no problem. Lots of parking available. The condo is the closest unit to the upper parking lot and there are no stairs or elevators for kids and seniors to deal with. We went to the beach daily so having a foot rinse right outside the condo was handy. In this tropical climate you are encouraged to take the garbage out daily to avoid unwanted pests (there are none in the unit), and the dumpster was easy access. The garbage truck does show up twice a day but this turns out to be daily entertainment for my little one.
There is a huge chest on the lanai with lots of goodies for the beach, we used the umbrellas and snorkels and fins. The lanai is huge and we ate outside and enjoyed the peek-a-boo sunset from Kam 1 beach. I met some friendly neighbors while using the BBQ, it’s one flight of stairs up directly above the unit, there is another BBQ by the pool, which is another short hop away. The pool is clean and shaded in the afternoon.
King bed in the master bedroom was comfy soft, it has A/C which was a welcome relief after a hot day out. The AC generates a nice hum so light sleepers beware, it worked perfectly as white noise for my baby sleeping. The building is concrete so it’s very quiet between rooms. In the kitchen we used the dishwasher oven toaster coffee maker and rice cooker. The flat screen TV has cable programming and accepts hdmi input so bring your own movies.
Location is perfect like others mentioned, it’s far enough up South Kihei road so no traffic noise. Food-wise check out Da Kitchen Express for Hawaiian fare, S and Q coffee and shaved ice, both in Rainbow Mall, Cinnamon Roll Fair next door with insane sugary indulgence, the Kinaole Grill Food truck just by foot of Alanui Ke Ali’i, the Hawaiian Moon organic grocery store, gelato, tacos, korean bbq. All these WITHIN 5 minutes walk! Driving, you can get to every lovely beach in South Kihei and Wailea from here, furthest south was Big Beach which still took us only 20min driving. Stop by the roadside BBQ stand selling huli huli chicken across from Kam 3 on weekends.
Brianne the owner was very easy and pleasant to work with. She gave clear and accurate instructions, suggested many activities and entertainment and returned my deposit promptly. Mahalo!
